The Oxford Story

Oxford Senior Living was founded in 2010 with a vision to enrich the lives of seniors every day with love and dignity by providing beautiful, innovative home environments and extraordinary staff who are empowered to get to know each resident and love each resident… Because you take better care of someone when you love them.

Oxford COO and co-founder, Jason Wiley was always close to his grandparents growing up. He earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in gerontology before dedicating his career to seniors. Along with decades of experience in senior care, Jason has also stood in the shoes of many Oxford families as his grandfather battled Alzheimer’s disease. In 2010, Glen Carr House Memory Care Residence was built in Derby, Kansas. Today, four additional Oxford Glen Memory Care communities have been built throughout the Midwest, and the Oxford memory care model thrives in each Oxford Grand Assisted Living & Memory Care community.

In Honor of Glen Carr

While Glen Carr lived with Alzheimer’s, it is to remember his life in its entirety that we honor him with a namesake of Oxford memory care. The spirit of Glen Carr lives in his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who remember him as a World War II veteran, farmer and public servant who instilled discipline in his personal life while offering love and humility to his family and community. Blessed with an extraordinary sense of humor and unparalleled generosity, he enriched the lives of those he touched with his wit, his work ethic and his dedication of time and talent to giving back and making a difference.

It is in Glen Carr's honor that we dedicate our memory care residences... not because he suffered from Alzheimer’s, but because he taught us all that it is only through knowing someone that we can know how to care for and about them.

Our approach to memory care is modeled after this lesson:

Understanding who someone was before dementia -
is the path to understanding how to genuinely care for them now.
